4th of July Party 2010

July 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

This year we avoided the rain, that is the good news; the bad news was that it felt like 100 degrees out there.  Very fun day - and all went well.  Scott had a few new band members - and this year we rented “sumo suits”  see pics below.  Besides that it was fairly typical for the Miller annual party.

Riley - Baseball

July 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

Riley had a great summer of baseball.  He has really become a better player since last year - as he can throw the ball a bit faster, catch better, and hit very well.  Riley enjoys playing first base, along with catcher.  He has had some outstanding plays this year!  On to football now that baseball is done.

Miller family reunion - Memorial Day 2010

June 6th, 2010 · No Comments

This year we went to Michigan City, Indiana for the 16th Miller annual reunion.  We stayed in the “green house” for the 3rd time - a favorite for the kids.   It was Grandma and Granddad’s year to select the venue - and with that they took charge of some games, food, and scheduling for the 3 day weekend. It was very warm weather while we were there, so the cold lake Michigan water actually felt refreshing. We had a “talent” show - where most of the kids played the piano, and watched old episodes of the Brady Bunch - something Sean enjoyed more than anyone else.We played old fashioned team games like dropping clothes pins in bottles, throwing rasins at the kids with peanut butter on their cheeks, rolling marbles across tables, and we brought baby pictures and played games guessing who was who…On our trip home Monday - there was a major thunderstorm - which made for a memorable ride.  We had a great time, but needed a day to unwind and catch up on sleep.  Pics below.

8 Staples in the head?

June 6th, 2010 · No Comments

Emery decided he would fall off the counter stool, and bang his head on the countertop at 8:18 am before school started (it was a Friday).  Beth was trying to get everyone ready for school, and make it to a field -trip to Brookfiled Zoo with Riley’s 1st grade class that day  - at 9:00  ….  to make a long story short, Mark came home from work at about the worst time of the year to take Emery to the emergency room - and Beth made it to the Zoo afterall.  Emery had 8 staples put in - and now it is a small scar.  What excitement!

Hannah’s Pioneer Night - School

June 6th, 2010 · No Comments

This year, Hannah sang with her fellow 3rd graders.  She also had a square dance, along with an old fashioned pie social.  Hannah did a great job, and was excited to participate.  Beth made rhubarb pie, picked from the garden on Mckee Street.  All 4 grandparents came by.  Mark had to sit on the floor, on a blanket - aw shucks…

Medieval times - March 2010

June 6th, 2010 · No Comments

This year we were given the opportunity to go to Medieval times as a family.  It was a gift from a co-worker, and he went all out making the night out enjoyable for us.  We had front row seats, and some other upgrades such as a picture with the king, and a backstage pass to see the horse stable.  The kids really enjoyed the evening - and we did as well
